Our Drug Formulation Development Process
- Pre-Formulation Studies — Early-stage evaluations are crucial for determining the best pharmaceutical formulation development strategies. We have the experience needed to oversee all aspects of the pre-formulation stage successfully, including physiochemical assessments and establishment of the target product profile.
- Formulation Development — We work closely with you throughout the process of developing your formulations. This includes the creation of the initial formulations for testing, ensuring analytical techniques are robust and reproduceable, and adjusting the formulations based on test results to meet your specific performance criteria.
- Advanced Technologies — Our technologies for pharmaceutical formulation development enhance your drug’s solubility, bioavailability, and targeted delivery. These include:
Purcision™ Supercritical Precipitation (SCP) — This proprietary technology and process is aimed at optimizing the specific surface area of your drug. It modifies particle characteristics including size, shape, and polymorph by adjusting properties of our systems’ feed solutions and operating parameters such as temperature, pressure, and nozzle configuration.
Spray Drying — Primarily used to create powders from liquid formulations, this technique is one of our specialties. We use state-of-the-art equipment and our extensive experience to provide the highest-quality results from this process. We have a dedicated building for spray drying that involves cytotoxic materials for enhanced safety.
Jet Milling — This entails creating particle-to-particle collisions, resulting in a reduction in particle size. Coarse powder enters the air jet mill and is suspended in a high-volume air flow. Particles of the desired smaller size exit the mill and are collected. The larger, heavier particles remain in the mill.
